Gasket Test Rigs

The function of gasketed joints is significantly determined by the

  • properties of the gasket.

These are necessary for both the

  • selection of a suitable gasket and the required
  • proof of tightness and integrity.

Additionally, these characteristics are required for

  • quality assurance

purposes by the gasket manufacturers.

The most important properties are summarized in a set of (standardized) gasket factors.

AMTEC developed a series of test rigs to determine gasket properties – accurately and cost-effectively. Tests can be performed according to

  • national and international standards

as well as according to

  • user-defined procedures.

Our multifunctional gasket test rig TEMESfl.ai1 provides

  • compression tests
  • compressive creep testing
  • creep/relaxation testing
  • leakage testing

at room temperature or elevated temperature, as well as under load or internal pressure.

The test rig can be operated both

  • manually and fully
  • automatically,

which represents a decisive advantage for long testing periods.

Especially for

  • creep/relaxation testing

we developed the TEMESfl.relax test rig to shorten the time-consuming investigation of various parameters (load, temperature, stiffness) by using several test rigs.

The TEMESta.luft test rig is designed for component testing of

  • real flanged connections

to investigate gasket quality in terms of the TA Luft (the German Clean Air Act). Here, the sealing behaviour is determined after a previous exposure to temperature.

The testing device TEMESfire.safe is engineered to test

  • flanged joints and valves

for their fire resistance. User-defined test procedures or tests according to e.g. API 607, API 6FA or API 6FB  as well as EN ISO 10497, BS 6755-2 can be conducted.

Other test rigs

We have also developed special solutions when required, e.g. a test rig for

  • high temperature applications up to 1650 F / 900 °C,

or for

  • gaskets with large nominal sizes

which needed to be tested in individual segments.

We have also carried out modernizations to older test rigs from other manufacturers – this is not limited to Klinger test rigs.
